After several years of planning, some delays, and a year of construction Tinhorn Creek is pleased to announce that their restaurant will be opening its doors to the public on Friday April 1st, 2011. This is no April Fool’s joke, it is really happening.
The restaurant, aptly named Miradoro, roughly translates to “Golden View” in Portuguese. This originates from Miradoro restaurant partner Manuel Ferreira’s (of famed Vancouver’s Le Gavroche) Portuguese background. Miradoro will serve market cuisine in a relaxed fine dining atmosphere. It seats 65 people inside with a 65-seat patio offering superb views of the scenic South Okanagan Valley. Ferreira has secured two exceptional individuals to run the restaurant whose knowledge and experience will make Miradoro a destination restaurant for tourists and locals alike.
Behind the menu will be Executive Chef, Jeff Van Geest. His background includes some of Vancouver’s finest restaurants (Bishops, Diva at the Met, Chef Bernard’s Cafe) and his own restaurant, Aurora Bistro. Van Geest will be an excellent fit with Tinhorn Creek’s focus on sustainability, winning Vancouver Magazine’s Green Award for demonstrating leadership in sustainability.
Justin McAuliffe, Miradoro’s General Manager and Sommelier, has worked in the wine industry for 15 years at some of the top restaurants in Toronto (Centro, Canoe) and Vancouver (C Restaurant). McAuliffe is certified by the International Sommeliers Guild (ISG) and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Another great fit with Tinhorn Creek’s sustainability philosophy, Justin has endorsed the sustainable culinary philosophy at C Restaurant.
