WINERIES
Nestled in the beautiful south Okanagan, Oliver can proudly call itself the Wine Capital of Canada. Vineyards dot the landscape and provide the necessary ingredients to produce some of the finest vintages in all of Canada. Oliver is home to more than 20 of British Columbia’s licensed, internationally recognized wineries. The “Golden Mile” on the west bench is recognized as a distinctive viticultural area that is rich with glacial deposits formed from the ice age. Other wineries located on the "Black Sage" east bench have equally unique growing climates with deep sandy deposits. Winemakers assert that different soil conditions, known as terroir, have an identifiable impact on the flavour of the wines.

Oliver is home to 10 percent of the nation’s wineries; as such the selection of vintages, available directly from the wineries or local retail outlets, is second to none. Every style and flavour, including reds, whites, rosés, sparkling and ice wines are available. Wineries of every type and size are willing to open their doors and let wine enthusiasts peruse their operations. Be sure to pair a vintage with specially crafted dishes at a winery restaurant or with local artisan cheese and nibbles for an impromptu picnic on the winery grounds. The views are as a good as the wines.
Most wineries are either open year round, seasonally or by appointment.
Come and enjoy the spring and fall wine festivals.
Banée in the spring celebrates new releases from the numerous local wineries. The Fall Festival of the Grape is a family event. Plan to experience everything from face painting, wine tasting, live entertainment, food vendors, trade show, games and of course, the Grape Stomp.
